Sensory Cave Complete!!

UPDATE:

With the continuously generous help of the Community Foundation of the South Okanagan Similkameen we have improved our innovative Sensory Cave. We aim to relentlessly pursue excellence in care and as such we want to be continually improving our spaces, even newly created ones. The Sensory Cave is a unique space, purpose built, to help child regulate their sensory systems which in turn leaves them better able to learn. The Community Foundation has donated an additional $12,000 to ensure this incredible space is a true reflection of excellence in care.

Children with developmental challenges often have different sensory systems and therefore things that don't bother others bother them. Inputs like fluorescence lights can seem like nails on a chalk board. Over 1,200 children coming in for therapy or in our daycare or preschool are now benefitting from this new space. The Sensory Cave provides an "off switch" for these children allowing them to regain their focus and be reintegrated into busy spaces. Watch the video below to see the final product!

We've been hard at work on our Sensory Cave thanks to a generous grant of $9,500 from the Community Foundation of the South Okanagan Similkameen and the Penny Lane Charity Society! Our Sensory Cave is now complete, providing children an environment to help them calm down and set them up to learn.
