The OSNS (Okanagan Similkameen Neurological Society) Child & Youth Development Centre is a pediatric and youth therapy centre, focusing on:

  • assessment

  • education

  • individualized rehabilitation treatment of developmental supportive needs in children

  • youth programming

Our Early Intervention Program includes specialists in speech-language pathology, physiotherapy (where children learn to walk, climb, & coordinate movements), and occupational therapy (where children learn basic life skills, such as eating, dressing, and toileting) behaviour support and family support.

Our Autism Intervention Program (AIP) provides children up to the age of 6 with a personalized, goal-focused treatment program, supporting development in the areas of occupational therapy, speech-language therapy, and behaviour support.

We also provide inclusive Early Learning programs through our preschool and childcare environments for children under six years old.

We believe that Early Learning is the root of long-term adjustment and wellness.

At OSNS children learn to cultivate focus, resilience, empathy, connection, and wellbeing as the basis for learning and personal success. Children do better in school when they are mindful of their own thoughts and feelings, can manage their emotions and have compassion for others.

Supporting families is a core principle of OSNS services.

We provide family support in the form of one-to-one discussion and educational groups. As we grow and learn, we understand the importance of talking about what matters to the families we serve. Every year, we ask our families to answer three questions:

  1. Is your child improving as a result of OSNS?

  2. Are you and your child treated with respect by OSNS

  3. Do we talk about what matters to you?

We consistently strive for improvement and are committed to the pursuit of excellence and quality care.

We are always growing. We estimate that over 30,000 vulnerable children along with their families have received support from our organization. Our growth is strategic. We look for ways to be innovative and efficient.

Our facility was designed with children in mind.

We are heavily invested in ensuring that our facility is culturally and emotionally sound for all families. We are committed to creating a space that is free of intimidations for vulnerable families. Our goal is that all children, youth and families feel welcomed and comfortable at OSNS.
